Kick-off Meeting of the Programme “Assessment and Enhancing Capacity Building on Blue Economy and Green Maritime Development in Vietnam”

On January 28th, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) held the Kick-off Meeting of the Programme “Assessment and Enhancing Capacity Building on Blue Economy and Green Maritime Development in Vietnam”. The Meeting was attended by the Representatives of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Vietnam, government agencies, association, maritime authorities, ports, enterprises, and other related stakeholders.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice President of VMU, emphasized the University’s strong commitment to education, research, and international cooperation in the maritime sector, and highlighted the Programme’s importance role in promoting green maritime development and advancing a sustainable blue economy in Vietnam, underlining its significance in laying a solid foundation for long-term, sustainable growth in the maritime sector.

The representatives of the Royal Norwegian Embassy and UNDP shared Norway’s experience and international best practices in greening the maritime industry, ocean governance, and marine spatial planning. They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Vietnam through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and technology cooperation.

The Kick-off Meeting marked an important milestone in the successful implementation of the Programme

During the meeting, the VMU research team presented a summary of the report and received valuable and constructive feedback from participants. These contributions will support the further refinement of the report and enhance the effective implementation of the Programme in the coming period.
